Woman plots with her lover to kill her Airforce husband so she could claim his $650,000 life insurance/benefits

Not many would have believed that Michelle Paet, 28, wife to Air-force man Staff Sergeant Nathan, 28, would plan with her lover to kill her husband just so she could claim benefits and life insurance.

One ordinary evening, Sergeant Nathan kissed his kids goodbye and headed to his car to go to work extra shifts to make more money for his wife and children. Just then Michelle sent a text message on her mobile phone. Minutes later, the sound of gunfire filled the night air and Nathan staggered back into the house with his body filled with bullets.

Nathan (pictured above) collapsed to the floor and died minutes later as his horrified family watched on. But many didn't know that the answer would lie in the text message Michelle sent as her husband walked out the door.

In 2010, Michelle and Nathan Paet were living in Las Vegas with their four children aged between two and nine after falling in love as highschool sweethearts.

Nathan joined the US Airforce and served loyally, working tirelessly to make enough money to take care of his family but his wife Michelle already had her heart elsewhere, and started dating a man she worked with at a telemarketing company.

Michelle’s lover was Michael Rodriguez, 36, (pictured right) and for six months they had a passionate sex-filled love affair and together, they came up with a  plan.

Michelle wanted to be with Michael, but she wasn’t willing to walk away from her marriage without anything. She knew she’d be in line for $400,000 (£303,000) from the military in the event of Nathan’s death and a life insurance policy worth $250,000 (£190,000).

She wanted Nathan dead but Nathan wasn't aware that his wife was even cheating on him talk more of planning his murder, so he continued to work on late night shifts to make more money which gave Michelle and her lover the perfect space and time to plan Nathan's murder.

On the night of 1 December 2010, Nathan got ready to go to work. He dressed in his camouflage uniform, as always, and prepared for the night shift.

Outside, Michael pulled up in his black Cadillac and lay in wait. His phone received a message – it was from Michelle.

"He’s rushing to get out of the door. LOL," it read.

Nathan said goodbye to his family and walked out to the garage, then Michael shot him five times in the back. Nathan was such a strong man that he found the strength to stagger back into the house where he collapsed in front of his wife and children.

Michelle pretended to be distraught and cried and cried in front of her children and medical personnel .Then, a few hours later after her husband was confirmed dead she sent a smiley face text message to her lover.

Michelle quickly crumbled when questioned by police and admitted that she and her lover had been planning for Nathan's mother for two months but Michael wasn't willing to confess at first claiming he was having sex with another woman in a Las Vegas hotel at the time of the shooting, but the woman, an ex porn star, said she’d been offered money by Michael to give him an alibi. He had told her he was about to come into a large amount of cash.

Both Michelle and Michael were charged with Nathan’s murder. in September 2015, Michael received life in prison without the chance to appeal or parole while Michelle pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and to first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon.
Michelle broke down as she faced Nathan’s parents.

"I’m sorry," she wept. "I love you guys and I love my kids, and I hope that this is closure for you." "I was emotionally vulnerable," she said. "I made a huge mistake and a really bad choice and I’m truly sorry."
As a woman of faith, I forgive you because your soul clearly needs forgiveness," Nathan's mum said to Michelle.

According to Nathan's mum, Michelle's kids still jump up from bed at loud noises because they fear their mum could attack them the way she killed their father.

The judge said "You were much more involved than you’re willing to admit," he said. Michelle, now 33, was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.

According to the Judge, Michelle threw away years of devotion for a man she’d known just six months.

Mother of rescued Chibok school girl fears for her future. "She does not want to remain a Muslim"

Amina Ali, a schoolgirl who was rescued after two years in Boko Haram captivity, may never be the girl she once was, her mother fears. Binta Ali was also worried her daughter was being pressured into following Islam.

Amina, one of more than 200 girls abducted from a school in Chibok in April 2014, and her four-month-old baby were rescued in May near Damboa in the remote northeast, by soldiers working together with a Civilian JTF.

After a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, in the hope she would shed light on the fate of the other kidnapped girls, Amina has since been held in a house in the capital Abuja for what the Nigerian government has called a "restoration process".
Garba Shehu, Buhari's spokesman, said that Amina's confinement in the house had nothing to do with religion.

But her mother, Binta Ali, who has spent the last two months in the house, is concerned about Amina's welfare and future.

"Before she was kidnapped, she wanted to further her education," Binta told the Thomson Reuters Foundation from Chibok, having briefly returned there to seek medical treatment.

"But now she is afraid of schooling, and she wants to be close to me at home," said Binta, adding that Amina wants a sewing machine so that she can start a business making clothes.

Binta said she was also worried that her daughter was being pressured into following Islam, having been forced to convert from Christianity to Islam by Boko Haram militants during her captivity.

"Amina herself does not want to remain a Muslim," Binta said, explaining how an Islamic teacher had visited the house several times and told her daughter to maintain her new faith.

"She did not want to see him," Binta said, adding that the teacher had stopped visiting after she complained about him.

Amina and the other girls, starving and with nothing to cook with, resorted to eating an entire bag of beans and maize raw.

"I cannot imagine how a human being can eat raw maize and beans like a goat," Binta said.

Amina also told her mother how some of the kidnapped girls had died in captivity, while others suffered broken legs or went deaf after being too close to explosions. But she pleaded with her mother not to break the news to the families in Chibok.

"Other parents have been coming to visit me since I returned," Binta said. "But I have not told them anything, even though I know some of those whose daughters have died."

Despite her fears over Amina's religion and education, and uncertainty over when she will be allowed to return home, Binta said she still had reason to be positive about her daughter.

"She used to be very afraid," Binta said, explaining how Amina would talk to herself during the night prior to her kidnap.
"But now she sleeps soundly. She is no longer afraid."

Rochas Okorocha reduces civil servants work days to 3 times a week, says Thursday and Fridays are for farming

In a bid to increase the state's internally generated revenue and diversify its economy, the Imo state government has introduced a policy where state civil servants are to work for only three days in the week, Monday to Wednesday while Thursday and Friday, they are to go their farms to cultivate what they would eat. A statement by the state governor, Rochas Okorocha's Chief Press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the new policy will not affect the salaries of workers. Read the full statement shared on the state government's Facebook page below...

The government of Imo State has introduced a policy tagged“BACK TO LAND FOR AGRICULTURE” to enable the state engage and invest heavily in agriculture for self-sustenance since from all indications the state can no longer depend on monthly allocation for survival. The governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha disclosed the “Back To Land For Agriculture” policy of the state government when traditional rulers from the state operating under the aegis of Royal fathers in Agriculture paid him courtesy call at the Government House Owerri on Monday, August 1, 2016. He said, the State Executive Council has given approval to the new policy. Against the backdrop of the “Back to Land for Agriculture” Programme, the governor directed that public servants in the state would now work from Mondays to Wednesdays, and use Thursdays and Fridays for agriculture (farming) while Saturdays can be used for ceremonies. And the directive takes effect from Monday August 1, 2016. However, the governor exempted public servants on essential duties like the teachers, nurses, doctors and people involved in Internally Generated Revenue drive. Political appointees are also exempted from the three-days working periods. The governor added “we shall try this programme for the period of one year, starting from 1st of August 2016 and hopefully this will help. Let me make this emphasis before it is misconstrued or misrepresented, that this does not in any way affect the salaries of the workers. Workers will get their full salaries as been the practice. So the policy does not mean that there will be a cut in salary rather let us now find a way for our workers to supplement their salaries”. He continued “for this reason the issue of annual leave and casual leave is hereby cancelled. Resumption time for work has changed from 8am to 7.30am in the morning and ends by 4pm. Any worker that is not found on his or her seat between 7.30am and 4pm on the days concerned will be summarily dismissed”. “Everybody must go back to agriculture. Every political appointee must own a farm. The youths would also be encouraged to take to agriculture. Schools including Universities, Polytechnics and Secondary schools in the state must own farms. The Community Government Council (CGC) must be strengthened for the sake of this agricultural programme”. “Two billion naira (N2b) has been set aside at the micro-finance bank for the purpose of this Back To Land For Agriculture policy so that those willing can access it. And time is gone again when politicians and some Imolites will come to government in the pretence of farming and collect loans and use it to buy cars and marry new wives”. “Again, the June and July Salaries would be paid this week. We are making sure that our workers are comfortable and our pensioners are happy because this is one area the whole nation is having a serious challenge. Our problem is not being unable to pay salaries but paying over-bloated salaries. We are also making effort to pay our pensioners once the harmonization is over”. “I also want to announce that government has appealed to families and those who organize burials on Mondays to Wednesdays to please change and have their burials on Saturdays so that we can concentrate on the government’s work and on the agricultural programme. “Everything that has to do with agriculture no matter what shape it comes, government will support it. So many countries are going through economic crisis because of the fall in oil. Our nation is also going through very difficult moment. We have taken responsibility as leaders and we are not blaming anyone. Wise nations and leaders save for the rainy days. There were periods the oil price was in our favour. But those incharge then blew the money. They made no savings. Today the oil price globally has crashed and here we are. And we must fall back to agriculture as the panacea” Governor Okorocha stated.

The change we promised Nigerians is now manifesting around us – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that the change the APC promised Nigerians during the 2015 general elections campaign is now manifesting in Nigeria. He said this while speaking at the Federal government town hall meeting in South East Enugu yesterday August 1
"Many have said they are yet to see the change we promised. Many more have called the promise a ruse. In fact, they are now mocking us.
But we remain undaunted because we know that the change we promised is real. In fact, the change we promised is already here, and it is manifesting all around us"he said Continuing he said "Before now, public officials simply opened the public till, took as much money as they wanted and walked away, without consequences! That explains why funds allocated to the military to fight Boko Haram ended up in the piggy banks of many unscrupulous Nigerians. Today, all those who looted the public treasury are being made to answer for their actions, as impunity gives way to accountability. Prior to now, funds accruing to the government were paid into so many accounts that even the government could not keep a tab on them, or worse still did not even know the accounts existed. Today, every kobo accruing to the government is paid into a single account, called the Treasury Singles Account (TSA), to be used for the benefit of all Nigerians. Before now, thousand of ghosts earned salaries every month. Of course, we all know that ghosts don’t work, yet they got paid in this country. Today, the ghosts are in trouble as over 30,000 of them have had their unmerited salaries stopped, saving the country millions and millions of naira. Many more ghosts are being smoked out,”.
